We agree that clear communication in one's own language is important. Translators have been provided for Cantonese, Mandarin and Spanish speakers in each of the meetings we have held with community groups and we intend to continue doing this each time we present or meet with local residents. We have maintained this practice for all informational pieces we have produced on the project (those multi-language items are also available to download from this site). We are working now with the developer of CoUrbanize to find the best way to bring this same level of high quality translation to the community experience they provide through their platform.

Thank you for your questions. All apartments at 247 Cherry Street will be rental units. 25% of the units will be permanently designated as affordable housing and integrated throughout the building with access to the same services and amenities as the other rentals. Rental rates on the affordable housing units are currently under review. We will post additional information on affordable housing rentals as soon as it is available.
Regarding security: Access control technology will be installed and professionally operated throughout 247 Cherry Street and its outdoor areas. In addition to these security measures, professional staff will be onsite at all times.
No parking is planned for the project.

Thank you Jessica. We are working with SCAPE landscape architects to develop outdoor seating, new walkways and activity areas on the site. In addition to the outdoor seating in the green space at ground level, an outdoor terrace with seating will be included with the new Community Room that is being built in the new tower with dedicated access for residents of 80 Rutgers Slip. With regards to managing existing outdoor seating during the construction phase, this is an item that will be considered during the upcoming EIS Process. As construction planning develops, we will keep this item high on the list and work closely with residents and building management to monitor it until new outdoor spaces are finished and open.

Thank you for sharing this suggestion. We plan to recruit exactly this kind of retail tenants to the new neighborhood retail space along Rutgers Slip and Cherry Street. Quite a few people from the community have joined you in suggesting a pharmacy be recruited to the space. This is a top priority for us as we move forward to build 247 Cherry Street.
Bringing new affordable housing to 247 Cherry Street will not displace senior residents or any other residents—including those currently living in affordable housing built during previous periods of development. The new rental units being built help to increase housing options in Two Bridges and fund services and improvements to existing residents by putting unused development rights to work. We have heard some of the same rumors that have raised your concern about losing senior housing, but these are simply not true. The new rental units at 247 Cherry Street are part of the same long-term residential development plan that has been creating housing in Two Bridges since the early 1970s. Our vision is to preserve and improve existing housing while bringing new affordable housing, rental units and retail options to the neighborhood.
