Lynda, these would be great additions to our proposed kiosk that will offer water-sport rentals. Thanks!

Ana, Great points. Amenities such as the new park, widened boardwalks, deck (wharf), green spaces, waterside recreation and leisure are designed to be free for all to enjoy. We can discuss with the County and future tenants the idea of a discount for locals. Thanks for the feedback.

Thank you for the comment. I’m happy to report that the proposed project does include a kiosk that will offer water-sport rentals. In addition, the proposed project’s waterside will feature new widened boardwalks with lighting and landscaping.

Bethany, Great point. Our development plans are designed with disabled access as will the expanded new boardwalk. Very interesting point about areas for toddlers and older children. Let us consult with our landscape architect regarding the family park we’ll introduce at the south end. Please also check out the plans for the park by visiting the INFO tab and scrolling down to the Information & Plans links at the bottom. The vision currently includes a nautical tot lot for toddlers/children and turf play area perhaps where older children can informally play sports. In addition, there’s a fountain and shade trellis structures along with seating for individuals to enjoy the outdoors and water ambience. Let me see what the design experts have to say about areas for toddlers vs. older children as sometimes the older kids can overwhelm the little ones if there’s not a well-designed toddler area.

There is no intention made to hide the fact that 390 residential units are part of the plan. Housing is central and included as part of the proposal primarily as a way to allow for the improvements to the wharf for the public to enjoy. We encourage you to check out the traffic impact visualizations at the bottom of the info page for more information.

William, Thank you for your support of the project. Housing will allow for a more revitalized and improved wharf for the community to enjoy. Housing brings in the necessary revenue to subsidize the restaurants, retail and public amenities such as the park and boardwalks.

Michael, Thank you for the comment. The plan for housing will allow the revitalization of the wharf to bring a vibrant and publicly accessible space to the community to include a boost to the local economy through new retail and dining as well as green space and water recreation for children and families.

Hi Anabelen, Thanks for the suggestion--the plans do include a parking structure under the new mixed-use building. You can access the parking plan by clicking the INFO tab and scrolling down to the bottom section for Information and Plans. Click: "Fisherman's Wharf Overall Presentation" and see page 5 "Parking Plan". Let me know if that helps?

Toby, The proposed parking areas will feature EV charging stations. In addition, the structures will have solar panels on all the roofs and energy efficient and water conservation appliances and fixtures. Thank you for the comments as we too share your vision for sustainability for future generations.

Hi Jeff, Thank you for the idea regarding historical photos of the harbor--that's a great idea. Are you familiar with where historical photos can be located?

Michael, Thank you for the suggestion. We had not considered Homeboy Industries, but will research the organization. In regards to the logistics of the parking and traffic, feel free to review the site parking plan & traffic study and let us know if you have any questions or concerns. These documents are located under the "INFO" tab in the section "Information and Plans"

Hi Tobias, Besides canoes, paddle and duffy, are there any other small watercraft rentals you suggest be included?

Orlean, Thank you for the comment and points well taken. I believe our park design accomplishes both Leon's and your suggestions as it includes a nautical themed climbing structure for children as well as picnic tables and benches. We also plan to have a fountain and open turf area as well.

Dick, To clarify, are you suggesting a sidewalk/bike path be put in on South Victoria Avenue (adjacent to the street) or along the water's edge?

Eric, What type and size of boat parking do you suggest?

Thank you for the suggestion regarding outdoor seating. We agree that opportunities to sit outside will be an important aspect of the project. There are several areas that contain outdoor seating. First, our vision is to re-purpose the existing wooden wharf where the urchin crane is currently located. The crane would be relocated offsite and the wharf would be converted to an area featuring walking space, outdoor seating and restaurant service. You can take a look at our image gallery at the top of the site--there's a before and after of this area. In addition, the existing narrow sidewalk along the water's edge will be expanded from approximately 7-feet to an average of 15 to 20-feet wide creating a true boardwalk. New outdoor seating will complement the boardwalk throughout. Finally, the new park will include picnic tables and benches. Please let us know if you see any other opportunities for outdoor seating?

Jason, Thanks for the comment. Small watercraft rentals is a very popular response for the kiosk. We are currently working with a rental company to incorporate watercraft rentals.

Drake, Thanks for the comment. A wine bar is possible. One of our partners is involved in the Ram's Gate Winery and we are working on a tasting room concept as well.

Richard, I spoke to the County Harbor Department regarding the ability to offer small sailboat rentals—they informed us that sail boating is dependent on the width of the particular channel, wind, etc. I was told there is a sailing club who we could discuss contracting with. I’m in the process of making contact now and will follow up. Great idea and thanks for the comment!

Richard, Thank you for the comments. I've spoken to the design team and, per your suggestion, an ice cream shop could be incorporated along the south side of the boardwalk in the vicinity of the park. This would offer the ability for families and individuals to enjoy ice cream as they play and recreate in the park. I'm going to include a site plan that shows you the area we are thinking to add the ice cream shop. Great idea!
