Hi Randy--We've outlined some of the environmental concerns at the main project site. Please visit www.peacefountain.ca to learn more. This includes the fountain's significant energy use (equivalent to 50 homes), as well as other environmental concerns in the immediate vicinity that a reimagined Peace Fountain could address, including aquatic species habitat for endangered or threatened species, river water quality, localized flooding, among others.

Hi Randy--the Charles Brooks Memorial Peace Fountain is dedicated in the memory of Charles Brooks, and we recognize that Windsorites have many memories attached to the fountain, including those who have donated benches in Reaume Park in memory of their loved ones. We believe memory plays an important role at the Peace Fountain and at Reaume Park and we're looking for ideas about how these components can be enhanced.

Hi Marc--our team was awarded the project through an open public procurement process. This site is for gathering public feedback and ideas for the Peace Fountain. You can raise your ideas and concerns about the public tendering process to the City of Windsor's Purchasing Department.

We're using this extended public engagement process, as well as other avenues, including working closely with City, to develop designs that are meaningful to Windsorites. The design options developed during this phase will be presented to Council later this year.

Thanks for sharing Mike. This is an opportunity to create new possibilities for the fountain, such as year round operation, and eliminating the need to remove it from the water every year which is an expensive operation. The project is currently in the design phase and will be presented to council later this year. Only after approval there would fabrication and construction contracts be procured through the City's processes.
