Betsy we thank you for your comments and feedback. The purpose of the bumpouts to calm traffic. Can we safely infer that truck was speeding down the road?

Great suggestion! Thanks for the input.

Renee, we appreciate the feedback. Public art is also important to creating a sense of place and community. Your suggestion adds the functionality of safety to the mix which is very important.

The Tyler Street Business Group got 10 new trash cans put on the street so that's a start!

No map of the blighted buildings but our 2017 Pittsfield Better Block did focus on the area with the highest concentration of vacancy in the district (more info here: https://teambetterblock.com/Pittsfield). As for the question about out-of-towners, there are incentives programs aimed at improving home ownership rates across the city. One example of this is the City of Pittsfield's residential rehab program (find more information here: https://www.cityofpittsfield.org/city_hall/community_development/community_development_and_housing/housing.php). There's also a storefront improvement program for commercial properties within the TDI district (more info here: https://www.cityofpittsfield.org/city_hall/community_development/tyler_street_storefront_improvement_program.php).

April, where would you put that on the street?
MassDevelopment commented on Pittsfield TDI 4 years, 6 months ago
Natalie, can you say more about that? What makes Tyler Street small business friendly? Is it the neighborhood cultural, the rents, or something else?
MassDevelopment commented on Pittsfield TDI 4 years, 6 months ago
Great point

Thank you for your feedback! Permanent bump outs are designed with cyclists in mind. Typically, the bike lane travels through the inside of the section of the feature that "bumps out" into the street! Examples will be presented at the community meeting this Thursday and later posted on this site for those who are unable to attend the meeting!

Great input. What would bring you to Tyler more often besides the restaurants? Any ideas?
MassDevelopment commented on Pittsfield TDI 4 years, 6 months ago
Terry, what do you mean by renovation curb appeal? Can you tell us more?
MassDevelopment commented on Pittsfield TDI 4 years, 6 months ago
Mike and Jessica, any suggestions on how to fix the problem so that we can insure both driver and pedestrian safety?
MassDevelopment commented on Pittsfield TDI 4 years, 6 months ago
Good feedback. You placed the pin on a green patch in the neighborhood. Can you be more specific about what you mean by an outdoor theater? Are speaking of a new venue/ business on the street or an informal way to get some activity moving on a vacant parcel?
MassDevelopment commented on Pittsfield TDI 4 years, 6 months ago
Yes, the diversity of eateries on the street is a great asset. Thanks of the input.

Thanks for sharing your observations Jessica and Shelia.

Terry, thanks for your input. Can you tell us more about public places or space you would like to see on Tyler?
MassDevelopment commented on Pittsfield TDI 4 years, 6 months ago
Good suggestion Ashley. Thanks for your input.
MassDevelopment commented on Pittsfield TDI 4 years, 6 months ago
Nice. Are there other parts of the street that could use a parklet or pocket park, in your opinion Shelia? Tyler Street is a mile long so there are many opportunities to "green it up". Tell us what you think!
MassDevelopment commented on Pittsfield TDI 4 years, 6 months ago
Great input! Making Tyler Street a more pedestrian friendly environment makes it feel like more of a community. Where exactly on the street would you place parklets? Add it to the wishlist!
MassDevelopment commented on Pittsfield TDI 4 years, 6 months ago
Well, one way to potentially support such a project is to apply for Commonwealth Places. You can find information about the program here: https://www.massdevelopment.com/what-we-offer/real-estate-services/commonwealth-places/

Is something that you are envisioning will happen on site? I think there's currently construction happening in the chapel.
