What's in the Works

2300 Broadway is a mixed-use commercial project proposed to be located on the current Chase Bank Property in downtown Redwood City. With new open spaces including a contemplative Redwood Grove and an active pedestrian space along Hamilton Street, a range of workspaces, and dynamic onsite restaurants and retail, the proposed development will fill a quiet gap in Broadway’s active streetscape, and continue to draw residents, employees and visitors to historic Downtown.

plan of 2300 Broadway project

Under a partnership with MidPen Housing, the project is also sponsoring 609 Price Avenue, a new affordable housing project which will deliver 83 units of affordable housing within a half mile of Downtown. 609 Price Avenue will serve low-income families earning between 30 to 60% of area median income, and will provide its residents with services such as an afterschool program.

What's There Now

The site is currently a single story, surface-parked building set back from Broadway Street, with little connection to the active pedestrian realm of Downtown. While the landscape has a few remaining healthy Redwood trees, they are separated from the sidewalk by a low wall, with little ability for the public to enjoy their shade.

Public Benefits

Affordable Housing

This development will bring forward up to 83 units of permanently affordable housing for low-income individuals and families, through a nearby off-site project at 609 Price Avenue.

Open Space

As part of the proposed project, 2300 Broadway will create two new open spaces: Redwood Grove, a 5,000 sf naturally landscaped shade respite, and Hamilton Way, a 15,000 pedestrian-only thoroughfare.

Retail

The plan for 2300 Broadway envisions the creation of several neighborhood retail spaces spanning restaurants and cafes, everyday services, health and fitness, and boutique retail.

Green Building

2300 Broadway will be all-electric and LEED certified, with systems that will minimize water usage, heating and cooling needs, and overall use of fossil fuels while maximizing recycling and reuse.

Pedestrian Streetscape

2300 Broadway will improve the pedestrian streetscape along Broadway, Winslow and Hamilton Streets with expanded sidewalks, new street trees, and improved pedestrian amenities.

Transit-Oriented

2300 Broadway is located directly adjacent to the Redwood City Caltrain Station, and will provide onsite transportation support to move people via transit, ridesharing, walking, and biking.

Parking

The project will include over 150 secured parking spots and 45 bicycle spaces; available for use by the public during nights and weekends to enhance parking availability during downtown events.

Event Space

The project's new open spaces will expand opportunities for public festivals, events and gatherings, allowing overflow or additional programming to complement Courthouse Square.
