In 2014 MARTA, in partnership with the Decatur Downtown Development Authority, selected Columbia Ventures as their development partner for the Avondale Station transit oriented development (TOD). The project will be located on 7.7 acres of underutilized surface parking on the south side of the Avondale Station. This site is located at a highly visible gateway to the City of Decatur and is considered to be a catalyst for future growth and development in this district. This project is part of MARTA's broader TOD initiative, the goals of which are to increase ridership, generate revenue and support both local community development and regional economic development. 

Columbia Ventures has proposed a vibrant urban mixed-use node that will become a national inspiration for transit-oriented development. The project will include a diverse collection of residential units to include affordable senior independent living, market rate apartments and for-sale condominiums. Street-level commercial space will serve to activate the central plaza at the heart of the project while creating a desirable amenity for residents and the community.

This dense urban node will be effectively woven into the fabric of the surrounding neighborhood by providing permeability in several locations through ample sidewalks, connections to exisiting streets and an extension of the East Decatur Greenway PATH through the site.  

This project is located adjacent to MARTA's Avondale Station on the Blue Line. The Avondale Station is one stop from downtown Decatur and seven stops from downtown Atlanta. Six bus routes also serve this station. Directly to the east of the project is East Decatur Station, a mixed-use complex that features office space, dining, exercise, entertainment, art and retail options.
