A bicycle shop near the MVT trailhead would likely do well. Wasn’t there one on 23rd st many years ago?

I thought there was one where the wine shop is on 20th, wasn't there? I don't know why that didn't succeed.

I would have thought that a grocery store would be popular with local residents.

The former bike store on 20th St was more of a private bikeshare center than a bike shop. I don't think they sold any bikes there. They had a selection of bike gear and accessories but no bike sales. They... Read more

A PROTECTED BIKE LANE PLEASE. Otherwise the bike lanes on Crystal Drive will be EVEN MORE blocked than they already are!

I would like to see protected bike lanes on Crystal drive and 18th street. The unprotected bike lanes in front of good stuff are constantly used as drop off and pick up by cars that block the bike lane.... Read more

Definitely need to ensure they’re clearly marked: the protected bike lane that passes Bank of America at S Eads and 15th St frequently has cars parked between the curb and the bike lane markers as if the... Read more

Crystal Drive needs a protected bike lane. This will keep people on bikes off the sidewalks, prevent double-parking in the lanes, and make folks safer. This project shares a block with a future Metro entrance,... Read more

More bike parking. Also, please install protected bike lanes! Drivers do not respect the bike lanes on Crystal Drive; they are constantly double parking and not watching out for cyclists while parking.... Read more

What would encourage you to spend time in the public plaza?

I would love an outdoor beer garden and music venue. A outdoor play area for kids may be another nice feature.

An outdoor beer garden/live-music area would be great.

Yes, and I agree also about a play space for children

A larger community center and/or a larger, permanent public library.

Angela and Michael - thanks for the ideas! Green space and live music will be part of the plan for the public plaza. Join us at the open house on March 21 to share your ideas in person!

Urban agriculture component? Micro community garden? Vertical gardening? Fish and aquaculture?

Yes, I support David's concepts. And we must protect the Farmers Market as well. I also support including indoor growing space which could be farmer-managed for residents and others.

Juice-bars, more healthy restaurants, outdoor exercise classes, would all be great!

I have not seen any playground with jungle gym, slides, and swings, in Crystal City for neighborhood families to enjoy.

Agree! All the apartments in the area are pet friendly! And we could really use a community dog park.

I work in the area and would really benefit from having personal services (dry cleaning, shoe repair, post office) close by.

A hardware store

A hardware store would be so great. I usually order this kind of stuff online because there is not a hardware store close by.

Connect the new retail structure to the indoor Crystal City Shops walkways. Mid-block crosswalk from 1770 Crystal Drive to the Water Park.

Something for the kids would bring the families out! How about something for them to climb, a slide, rocking horse, anything like that?

As as current resident in Crystal City, we lack any true innovative dining options, with far too much fast casual and regional/national chains. I hope that this opportunity is used to bring in a destination... Read more

I would also add that high-end clothing retail is not necessarily needed, given Pentagon City is nearby. I hope we prioritize retail options that are actually filling a gap in our neighborhood!

Thank you for commenting Zach! We are excited about a special mix of dining options that will make this area a true destination to serve both residents and visitors.

A real NY bagel shop/bakery is very much needed, along with brunch options.

Public Plaza Poll

Trees, plants, and natural elements would make the public plaza an inviting spot!

There is already one that they are ripping out for the movie theater
