I am in a unique position an an abutter to the Greenway. Our condo building is at 1861 Dorchester Avenue. I am 100% for the Greenway and would love to see it used by the community. I would also like... Read more

Great feedback -- we'd love to hear from abutters and non-abutters and will be sure at the construction phase to reach out directly to discuss abutter-specific construction concerns.

Also, lighting used for safety should not be intrusive to abbutters. So, natural berms around fixtures blocking the light from shinning on abutters would be appreciated. The Minuteman Trail does this well,... Read more

What features or amenities would you like to see at the DotGreenway?

Permanent chess boards, outdoor gym, fountain/water feature?

Great ideas, thanks -- do you think these amenities should be concentrated in one area or distributed along the path?

closest to the T stations would probably make the most sense but really they could be anywhere! Outdoor gym should probably be the most secluded so people and onlookers feel comfortable.

Along the path. Any Congregation of any one specific thing including playgrounds would keep people from continuously moving and therefore annoy abutters.

How would you describe the future use you envision for the DotGreenway?

A safe, convenient, and beautiful way to walk or bike through the neighborhood, particularly to and from T stations, much like the Community Path in Somerville and Cambridge.

Thanks for the feedback Charles -- are there any specific features do you enjoy about the community path in Somerville and Cambridge?

I'm not Charles but I can say a few specific things I like about the Somerville Community Path:

- well-lit, clean, and safe
- well-maintained surface so it's easy to ride a bike or push a stroller
-... Read more

I also like the raised crossings at many of the cross streets. These crossings are well marked and level with the path, forcing drivers on the cross streets to slow down to go over the raised crosswalk.... Read more

Totally Agree! Especially on some of the busier streets (like Centre). Let's make these real neighborhood streets, not speedy cut throughs!

I think it’s important to promote walking and biking as the better way to get around the city. It’s important to make it clean, safe and accessible.
