What's in the Works
Through an extensive community outreach effort over the next several months, the City of St. Augustine will re-envision what King Street can be! We need your help to make King Street safer for cyclists and pedestrians, to enhance east-west connectivity, and create a one-of-a-kind gateway to the nation's oldest city.
This project will be completed in three phases, each phase will analyse a different segment of King Street. Segment 1 is from Palmer Street to Malaga Street, Segment 2 is from Malaga Street to Cordova Street, and Segment 3 is from Cordova Street to Avenida Menendez.
What's Happening Next
The Master Plan will document existing site conditions, future plans for the River to Sea Loop and the San Sebastian Riverwalk, and current land uses for the King Street corridor connecting West Augustine from Palmer Street (west of the San Sebastian River) to Malaga St. This document will establish a plan for future improvements that will enhance the West Augustine neighborhood’s connection to the downtown area. The plan will address the pedestrian / bicycle connection across US Highway 1 and make recommendations for vehicular travel lanes, horizontal layout of curbs, crosswalks, planting areas, street trees, on-street parking and bike/pedestrian facilities.
