The canals are a huge asset and should be developed into a first-class space for relaxation and recreation. I can envision a linear park running along both sides, with skating and hockey in the winter... Read more...

Yes! Or restaurants with outdoor eating along tree-lined canals, instead of empty parking lots.

I agree that convenient parking is helpful, and would like to point out that there are several large parking garages in the vicinity.

True, there are parking garages, but is it safe for people to walk to/from venues and restaurants from/to the parking garages?

Parking garages are not always feasible for people with disabilities.

We must ensure that adequate disabled parking is provided in these areas.

Extend the riverside bicycle and pedestrian trail south from Sunnyside Park so it connects with Simard-Payne Park as well as the riverwalk in Auburn.

This would be amazing - I love the pedestrian trail by Sunnyside park and a longer path would be a huge asset and allow for so much more access to downtown via bike, walking, roller blading, running, etc...

This would be such a huge asset to the neighborhood around Sunnyside Park where I live. There is no easy way to get downtown on a bicycle - you have to cross Main street and it's always daunting even though... Read more...

An enclosed Handicapped accessible rest room(s), near to the Veterans Park thus allowing older folks to feel a little more comfortable when coming to events here.

I have ALS and need a walker or wheelchair to access the park.

A desígnate bike lane to easily cross between Lewiston and Auburn would be great

There is community interest in more art and lighting in the Riverfront area. What do you envision?

This all sounds great! Love the idea of lighting the smoke stack and other historic architectural features. Lighting the waterfall and the canals, also! Would love to see more murals and public art... Read more...

Lighting the waterfalls would be wonderful.different colors and what not.

I love this new location for the Farmer's Market! It feels much more connected to the downtown, and it's so much nicer being away from the traffic of main street. I hope that it becomes the permanent home... Read more...

Access from downtown to the riverfront is poor. Please prioritize better connections, e.g. fixing the pedestrian bridge at the foot of Ash St, and then a path down to Lincoln St, etc

What is the hidden gem/ your favorite place in this area?

The Farmers market

The bridge is very unfriendly to non-motorized users and the extreme width promotes excessive speed. If the four lanes were narrowed and the turning lanes shortened then there could be a decent bike/pedestrian... Read more...

I feel the width should not be narrowed. All lanes are very much utilized and traffic remains heavy during many times of the day. Narrowing would make travel time across the bridge unbearable; especially... Read more...

I was suggesting narrowing the lanes and using that space for other modes, not reducing the number of lanes. I agree that a traffic study would probably not support reducing the number of lanes.

I love the idea of lighting down the canals! I think of providence rhode island's WaterFire event. Along the canal bridges too.

How would you most like to see the canal used?

Not sure if it would be possible but as a potential entry/chute into the rover for canoes & kayaks and SUPs with art work/murals surrounding. Also, highly interested in Lewiston’s own rock climbing gym... Read more...

There is already a beautiful music/entertainment venue just down Oxford Street - The Franco Center. The public needs to be made aware of this exquisite space. The Franco Center does a lot to uplift this... Read more...

What services and amenities are missing most from this area?

Informal restaurants and/or cafes. Having Museum L/A down by the river would also be great.

The undeveloped mills. There is so much potential for a year round marketplace, housing, mixed use spaces for artists/businesses, event space etc. More restaurants like Boba, Baxter etc.
