ABOUT THE GLENDALE PUBLIC ART MASTER PLAN

Under the direction of the City of Glendale’s Arts & Culture Commission, an advisory group to the Glendale City Council on arts and culture policies, leading community engagement specialist Community Arts Resources (CARS), and the nation’s leading public art expert, Barbara Goldstein, are developing the City’s first Public Art Master Plan. Goals of the 6-month outreach project include:

Reviewing existing art in public spaces
Identifying potential locations for public art
Developing rules for distributing the Urban Art Fund
Identify potential arts and culture partners in the community
Develop governance structure of staffing, implementation, and maintenance of program and artwork

The Glendale Public Art Master Plan hopes to provide a blueprint for the City to continue to enrich the experience of its growing numbers of residents and visitors, and enhance the quality of life and local economy in the built environment through arts and culture.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE

In June 2017, the City of Glendale and the consulting team kicked off community outreach for the Glendale Public Art Master Plan with a series of pop-up public art workshops and community meetings to understand where Glendalians would like to see public art and find out what kind of public art is desired throughout the city. This website is a free online tool for you to share your thoughts!
