Both the Long Path and Highlands Trail are routed from here north on 7 Springs Rd. about 500' to Gonzaga Park. As the area is more densely populated a corridor needs to be set aside for the trails to have... Read more...

Thanks for your comments, Ed. We're looking at this, although obtaining a permanent green corridor in that area is going to be difficult, since most of the property is residential and privately owned.... Read more...

Love the Heritage Trail. Would love to have more safe places to run.

Would love the rail trail developed that runs through Washingtonville and Blooming Grove.... Would be instrumental for continuing the rebirth Washingtonville is undergoing.

This is such a no brainer that If it is not done in the next 4-8 years, there will be long articles in the NYTimes, similar to the recent ones about the subway, asking, "What were they thinking?"

Gonzaga Park is a County Park on Schunnemunk Mountain. It is tiny but is increasingly lovely; it has a small pond, large parking lot, playing field, and is connected to the Long Path.

What bike or pedestrian improvements could we make in our community?

Love the Heritage Trail. Would be even better if it connected more towns and villages in Orange County and beyond! Thanks, Tom

We agree, Tom! The Heritage Trail is in the process of being extended, both slightly further into the Monroe area and up to Middletown from Goshen. Where else would you like to see it go?

That would probably have to be a separate trail development, Jan, but we'd really be excited to connect as many of our municipalities as possible through usable trail networks.

Get water back in the canal! We had lots of people visiting to make rides on the canal boat when there was water.

Yes, kayaks and canoes, skating in the winter perhaps. But the real draw is the canal boat replica that gave rides. I've always thought the island in Island Basin could be utilized as well. An amphitheater?... Read more...
