  • Neighborhood Listening Sessions

After we had completed our stakeholder interviews DESMAN found it necessary to connect with everyday residents. This was so that we could help to inform those who wish to be informed and gather information from those who feel they have something to add to the parking study. These meetings will take place in each neighborhood study area including downtown and will be tailored to each neighborhood and address what we found in that individual neighborhood.

    Stakeholder Interview Sessions

It is important that DESMAN gets a chance to listen to every side of the story as well as everyone in Reading is heard. So as a part of DESMAN's work we held stakeholder interviews with a wide range of people from people involved in education to major downtown institutions as well as important city officials. We made sure to make these interview sessions about listening to the people of Reading and what they had to say to ensure our end result falls in line with what residents wish for and see as problematic.

    Drone Produced Aerial Photography

Give the size and density of the four parking study areas DESMAN used drone technology to capture the current peak period parking activity levels on both a typical weekday and on a Saturday during the late spring season. The drone generated photography provided the planning team will a clear evidence of a wide range of on- and off-street parking problems, issues, challenges and opportunities. The decision to use drone devices to capture images from an elevation of 400 ft, was not only a time saver, but the photography yielded undisputed documentation of the prevalence of far too common instances of unsafe and illegal parking on a block by block and street by street basis.
