What's in the Works

At University Circle, we're transforming an existing surface level parking lot at the southeast end of the University Circle campus into an office building similar in size and architecture to the existing buildings with additional underground parking. The proposed new building will have the latest environment-friendly features, bicycle and pedestrian improvements within and around the site, and a community meeting room and outdoor plaza commemorating the history of the area--all available free to the East Palo Alto Community.

What's There Now

The site is currently a surface-level parking lot.

What's Happening Next

The project team filed a formal application to the City of East Palo Alto in late 2019 after numerous community engagement meetings and a study session with both the Planning Commission and the East Palo Alto City Council. The East Palo Alto Planning Commission held a required "Scoping Session" in June of 2020 to obtain community input and provide its own recommendations for the scope of the Environmental Impact Report (EIR). When the EIR is ready it will be released to the public for comment and revised for review and a vote by the City Council at a public hearing. The project itself will also be reviewed and voted on by the City Council at that time. There will be more community input opportunities before final public hearings on this project.
