I envision a larger Farmer's Market with a lot of green spaces. I would love the design to be a continuation of the historic district which would have a quaint, rustic feel to it. Connecting the area... Read more...

Excellent ideas! Butcher, fish, a German Bakery such as the one in Arlington. And of course ---local art. Outdoor dining with everyone facing a center public art piece or fountain--European feel.... Read more...

Exercise options such as the current cycling studio and Pilates studio. It’s important to keep rents low enough to allow for smaller locally owned business.

Sandra, low rent is key if we want to help them survive and encourage patrons to shop local.

Activities and events help retailers. Keeping the farmer's market but also music and art events that bring shoppers from outside the immediate area gives exposure to unique retailers.

Retail and restaurants facing a common area with outdoor tables. (farmers market, craft fair or music

Other small area suggestions Children’s park. amphitheater, fountains for children to play. All high on the list of town master plan. Also hanging gardens

Check out Belvedere Market in Baltimore. Was there yesterday and it looks like a good way to centralize small local eateries. Offer indoor and outdoor seating.

Rita, thanks so much for this suggestion. Belvedere Square looks like it has some interesting ideas for us.

This would be good for Leesburg, even with a slight uptick in traffic. Shame you can't add the Safeway. This is just gut feeling as a former office building developer (6 million sf. in Atlanta) but I doubt... Read more...

A large focus of our plan is improving the connection between Virginia Village and the historic downtown. Do you have any suggestions for how we can accomplish this, especially to the East to Harrison Street?

Paved, bridged, well-lit walkway over to that side of the property and Raflo Park. Give some money to improve that park and make it more actively useful.

Need a connection from your property on the east side through raflo park, possibly add a pedestrian bridge from the east side of your property with connection to the current trail in Raflo park.

We like this idea! A pedestrian bridge would further activate Harrison St and Raflo Park.

At which point FOLPA could then raise money for more seating in and around Raflo. At the Keukenhof gardens in the Netherlands people were sitting all over haystacks, old trees brought in on their sides... Read more...

What else would you like us to know as we are considering the redevelopment of Virginia Village?

most of historic Leesburg restaurants lack outdoor dining space (i.e. Tuskies, Lightfoot, King St Oyster bar) and those that do it is very limited (i.e. Wine Kitchen, Shoes Cup & Cork, Fireworks Pizza).... Read more...

We agree outdoor dining will be important and are looking at options that are on streets and/or open space. Not sure how it will ultimately look, but we are thinking about it during the planning stages... Read more...

This area needs to prioritize open green space and connect to other areas of Leesburg via walking and bike paths. No high density residential as the roads and schools cannot handle the excess.
