What's in the Works

The Vitrolite building is recognized on the National Register of Historic places and is located in the Ohio City historic district. In the scope of this project, we are proposing to affect the exterior facades. On the north elevation, we propose replacing frosted glass with clear glass in the existing aluminum storefront system.

As a bid alternate to this design, we propose a movable Nana wall system that would create a connection to the exterior while also upgrading the storefront system. The proposed alternate design matches existing mullion spacing to achieve the same look as the existing façade. On the south elevation, we propose replacing the existing metal overhead door with a glass overhead door to provide natural light for the Harness Cycle space and a connection to the exterior.

What's There Now

The site is currently the home to Harness Cycle and the former home of Intermuseum Conservation Association. It was originally the home of the Vitrolite Company, a glass manufacturer. Built in 1926, it is on the National Register of Historic Places.
