Why high rise? That is precisely what we don't need. It will cut off light throughout the Old
Town Wells street corridor. Mixed use retail and low rise residential much preferred.

Where did you get 50 stories? Was that discussed somewhere. Can't find anything about it on this site?

A 50 story tower at the gas station. Seriously? Talk about killing the character of the Museum and Moody building let alone the "gateway" to Lincoln Park Park...... Terrible idea!

The Moody church is such a beautiful building. It would be nice for a new building to compliment this one or even be situated in a way not to completely block this building.

The scale of the neighborhood should remain at the current level. No high rise buildings. Congestion on North Ave and LaSalle, especially in the summer, is crazy.

A high rise is being considered. Could be as high as 60 stories.

I would love to see some plans that follow this. However, given I heard there is a high rise being considered at an already busy intersection that is not in line with the beauty of the Moody Church I'm very concerned that we aren't getting something special.

We still don't have anything. And a high rise is being considered as part of the project even though most feedback is that people don't want a high rise.

No one who lives here would want a high-density high rise. All of the responses suggesting that are planted from the developers or their investors. This is not an honest process.

A high rise is indeed being considered for North and LaSalle. This hasn't been disclosed so little confused on the transparency. But unless we want a 60 story high rise at an already very busy intersection then we will need to be vocal so the Alderman doesn't approve it.

A high rise is indeed being considered for North and LaSalle. If people don't get vocal when the time comes for the Alderman to approve then we could have a 60 story high rise at an already very busy intersection.

A high rise is indeed being considered for North and LaSalle. They are not acknowledging that most people have said they don't want a high rise. People will need to be vocal when it comes time so that the Alderman doesn't approve a 60 story high rise at an already busy intersection.

Do you think they will put in an affordable option? My guess it will be higher priced than existing options. Further I'm concerned about the already heavy traffic on North. Add another high rise (where people will have cars or be using ubers) and we will have more of a traffic nightmare.

A high rise is indeed being considered as part of this project. Probably the LaSalle and North corner. So if that is not what people want you will want to be vocal since they don't seem to be acknowledging that most people have said they don't want a high rise.

right now there are no positive benefits. That station attracts all sorts of motor cycle gangs. They noise and havoc they create is unbearable . They cruise around at all hours circling the triangle streets in the area,.The music blasts at unbelievably high volumes. They disrupt traffic. Additionally the gas station was the sight of the party bus shooting last year. It needs to go!

Do not go up. Again, do not go up. I'm already upset with your choice of architect who will no doubt present some post-post-post-modern pile of nonsense that only one critic pretends to like and only does so to simultaneously impress and look down upon their friends at dinner who "just don't get it" while secretly not understanding anything at all but scared that if they don't acknowledge they like it they'll be found to be a fraud, while the rest of us will have to live with that nonsense plopped into the middle of the dominant intersection of our neighborhood and stare at it every day. The least you can do for us is not allow this post-post-post-modern nonsense to dominate Old Town's morning shadows for the next 60 years. I don't really believe any involved in this project will actually listen to any of this at all and this is all a distraction and a facade to pretend you care while you cover your real plans which were already decided long ago. But, I admit, my cynicism has been overwhelming lately and I don't intend offense. Best of luck!

I strongly believe the space should not be residential, especially a high rise building. I categorically am opposed to a high rise due to traffic congestion and believe it would compromise the integrity of the neighborhood.

Cannot stand anymore high rises...they are ruining the charm of old town. Any type of residential needs to be kept low and adhere to the original architecture that brought so many of us to old town in the beginning.

I fully agree--Old Town does not need more shadows, darkness, and increased traffic--there are enough high rises in this area. This area is unique and quaint and should stay that way--not claustrophobic and congested.

We definitely need a grocery store. Restaurant/bars that cater to the age demographic of the people who actually live in Old Town. The concept for the majority of the neighborhood's bars and restaurants is the same--they serve bar food, turn into packed "night clubs" with lines down the street, and primarily cater to young kids who get sloppy drunk, litter the streets and start fights. It's like a giant frat party every weekend. We could use at least a couple restaurants and bars that serve a more mature clientele (like folks in their late 30s/40's/50s) with good food and a more sophisticated atmosphere. The neighborhood has become unsafe and annoying on weekend nights. My friends and I don't hang out here on weekends, we go to the West Loop or Gold Coast. It would be fantastic to feel comfortable going out in our own neighborhood on weekends.

The rise of condos and residents in this area continue. The Plums, the FoxTrots are wonderful additions to the neighborhood, but don't serve the general population who cannot afford or prefer not to shop at specialty or higher-end grocery outlets. We don't need a discount store, but another Treasure Island type. Easily accessible, average prices, diverse choices. I think a Trader Joe's would be great even though it is a bit of a specialty store. I Aldi's and Jewel serve the community, but for many residents in Old Town who do not have a car, they are inconvenient for doing a weekly shopping. Would like to have a better understanding of why there is such resistance to replacing TI with another grocery store.

it is an underutilized spot. Chicago lacks amenities (restaurants) near parks/open space. I would love for this development to bring outdoor spaces and dining closer together.

The BP site is a very prominent entrance to the Old Town neighborhood. Since it adjoins the Moody Church, any redevelopment should be architecturally distinguished. It should be compatible with current zoning and preserve the scale and height levels prevalent in our neighborhood. The design should incorporate the magnificent current roof line. A versatile space perhaps modeled after the Rothko Chapel could be used as a place for mediation, prayer, concerts and ceremonies, smaller scale gatherings, special art exhibits, and memorials and other honors and recognitions such as the awarding of the Pritzker Prize. It can greatly benefit our neighborhood.

The presence of two gas stations on a single block requiring ultra wide curb cuts, combined with the fact that both Clark and LaSalle have four lanes for motor vehicle traffic (plus parking and turn lanes) means that this vicinity is a noisy speedway of cars that is highly unpleasant to walk along, bike on, or cross as a pedestrian. Whatever is done with these properties, I hope you can work with the city and stakeholders like the History Museum and Moody to calm the street and make it safer.

agree, about trader joe's, it would be wonderful addition, but no objection to a speciality grocery like Plum, do NOT need Aldi. Are we losing both gas stations in your design plan ? BP is a cool design don't need two gas stations however the visual access to the park is nice and provides an openness to the location. In general, I am opposed to high rises in the area, they increase density without contributing to the neighborhood's old town feel. All for a dynamic re-imagining of the BP station that encourages foot traffic and a human-scale open architectural transition between Lincoln park and west side of Lasalle.
