I'm glad. The particular slide deck we are using right now was developed pro bono to pitch the idea of extending the tunnel cap park in the undeveloped sections to the MBTA, so probably suffers a little from everyone in the room already knowing about Shawmut Gardens and therefore not needing to call it out in the way the next refinement, after this public survey period, should. Thank you for reaching out and helping us make it better.

Thanks Jenn— I am very relieved at your response. I probably overreacted; everything I had seen about this proposal had presented it as a completely new idea. Evidently I had not explored it thoroughly enough. I love the garden, and hope it can be thematically integrated with the new additions.

I echo what my Board member says above, but wanted to offer a bit more detailed response of my own. Whenever I have discussed this project over the last two years as part of Greater Ashmont Main Street's vision, I have started by pointing to the work and accomplishment outside Shawmut MBTA Station that already exists because of 20 or so years of work by dedicated volunteers. Greater Ashmont MS has always seen this as an extension of that, perhaps in a few different forms along the 1.3 miles, but never supplanting it. I am grateful to the current Shawmut Community Gardens leads for sharing so much of what the struggle was like to get that section in place, and we respect the professional landscape planning and grant funding they have used to do it. I am heartened by their their offers to help us move the DotGreenway forward, as well as happy to help relieve some of the administrative burden of the work they are still doing, to the extent they want us to. Please let me know if you want to get together one on one to talk more about this. It is important and I want to make sure you have your concerns addressed, as much as they can be at this stage of soliciting initial community input. Best, Jenn exec@greaterashmont.org
