@MIT I too would be interested in seeing more about this. I seem to remember MIT in the past worrying more about vehicle throughput than user safety, but maybe we've turned over a new leaf.

Hi MIT - Thanks for your reply. Will you share the study that concluded "the long term solution would have to include the removal of the crosswalk"? I can't imagine why it would "have to" be removed, but I'd love to learn more.

+1 on the raised crosswalk concept. Memorial Drive traffic is much too fast on a roadway that feels like a highway. A raised crosswalk which limits drivers to 15 mph would make this a far safer condition for road users.

Please don't remove the unsignalized midblock crosswalk between Walker Memorial and the Sailing Pavilion. People are going to cross there. Make it safer for them to do so. In fact, consider making it a raised crosswalk to slow vehicles. Memorial Dr shouldn't be a highway.
