I don’t support the project as it is. Each NYC neighborhood has it’s own characters that is important to maintain for the benefit of the city as a whole. It allows residents to find where they fit most and establish roots. This scale of project is good for a city center or downtown. It’s not good for a quaint, overall low-rise neighborhood that people move to for a sense of community, local foods and shops, and a break from the high rise and bustle of Manhattan. We see how the high rises by the water are poorly constructed and floundering. Projects like this should match the neighborhood. 3-4 stories at most to keep the vibe and allow in sun, have some influence from the old school architecture rather than pure modernism, and be local driven rather than luxury or chain driven as this one is. Build something small, with Astorian architecture influence (brick or dark stone with beautiful windows and moldings or detailing), and large green space—separate for dogs and people. That will attract people and be useful. But it will not make you filthy rich. And if that’s what you want, pls go elsewhere. We have plenty of hardware stores, urgent cares, and even food. We don’t need to become every bland, nameless city in America with the same mass chain shops, cheaply constructed high rise central with no sun, and a lack of personality and diversify of lifestyle.
