Love that winter activation and usage have been taken into consideration with the proposed sledding hill. Additional year-round programming should be integral to future plans and designs, so this incredible public space can be enjoyed in new and unique ways throughout every season. Could the lawn, overlook and boardwalks areas be programmed year-round for holiday markets / festivals / live music / movie nights / other flexible events and activities? Is there a way to integrate any food or beverage stands to help further activate the space? (ex. shipping container food vendors lining W25th street at the top of the hill, or along the boardwalk).

Is there designated bike parking proposed for the development? This should be included for both the apartments and for general public to use along the street, if not already part of the development plans/vision.

Café or bakery offering fresh food options (open all day, not just for breakfast/lunch), a more casual/lower to mid priced restaurant that would complement Astoria across the street and add diverse food offerings to the area.

78th Street Studios, galleries throughout the neighborhood, LAND Studio, FRONT, and I’m sure there are many more that could be valuable.

Farmers markets, food trucks, movie nights (using inflatable/pop-up projection screens), live music, engaging public art (ex. sculptures and murals), seating and tables, pop-up art fairs/booths for local neighborhood artists, year-round programming and activities, especially in the winter.

There needs to be a better pedestrian experience and public realm. Street trees and shade along the sidewalk are a must - also consider pedestrian lighting, thoughtful seating elements, and a building facade more integrated into the sidewalk rather than separated by odd clumps of landscaping. Having this site redeveloped is very exciting, but there needs to be better focus on how the user experience and pedestrian realm are designed. Currently, it is shown as inhospitable and needs re-evaluated.
It would be great to be able to purchase refreshments—including alcohol—that could be consumed within the park’s limits. This has been a huge success w/ some of the land managed by the Cleveland Metroparks (ex: Edgewater Beach).
