Is there a location where a tour can be set up? I would like to see how Mercy Housing keeps up with managing their housing. I live very close to the proposed sight and I’m concerned with the impact it may have on the community. I would also like to know more about the vetting process for tenants.

Thank you again for your thoughtful response. I still have concerns about how the facility will be managed. I have no problem with people that are looking for a hand up and willing to be a good community member regardless of their background. I would feel better if I could see the vetting process, as well as the on-going management of residents chosen to live in such a facility.

Oh, and finally, another location off of a main blvd would allow for easier access that would not contribute to traffic on what tends to be a very busy blvd.

Thank you for the reply. I will check back. The facility you referenced as similar is for a different population and it doesn't appear to have a very long track record. In other words it seems brand new. Is there a facility that has some history that we can know more about?

Also, that facility looks to be in a very commercial area. A little different from the site proposed in Sherman Oaks. Are there other locations in the San Fernando Valley that have been explored? Perhaps north of Oxnard? A new development in areas one or two miles north of this proposed site would actually benefit from some new development. And, it would likely be less costly to purchase and operate. Also, closer to the Orange Line terminal for easier access to public transit.

There are concerns about how a facility like this would be managed. And, the ability of on-site managers/staff to help residents be good neighbors. That is the fear. Giving people help to stabilize their lives is a positive thing. However, there are so many of the City's homeless population that do not want to be productive members of a community. What criteria will be used to screen potential residents? What specific measures will be used to ensure they are not hanging out on the street doing nothing all day? This is not a population going to work every day? Can you identify a location that is similar to the one proposed so that the community can see how it is being managed?
