Perhaps with a plaque to acknowledge their longtime occupancy of the spot? I don't know much about this particular church, but I am glad they will have a space in the building.

I agree 100%, a New York style neighborhood grocer would be perfect here. Quick in and out parking would Be the least disruptive parking option to the residence and be the most beneficial option to us so the biggest win/win. Gourmet take out food produce household essentials -all of the basics that you run out of and need in a pinch as well as gourmet coffee and wine beer etc. Anybody that’s spent time in New York knows that everybody’s got one of these around the corner from there a place that they can run to. gourmet takeout food produce household essentials like all of the basics but you run out of and need in a pinch gourmet coffee wine beer etc. Anybody that’s spent time in New York knows that everybody’s got one of these around the corner from there place that they can run to.

I believe that the church has been very very involved in this process from the beginning which is part of the reason why this project is unusual. They did not go for the highest bitter for development they were very careful about what developer they selected to work with and they will be occupying one of the two retail spaces themselves so they are very involved which is nice .

I think that the trash issues that are experienced on the hill are much different because the problem is school kids down here right on this street, I live at 487 Talbot we deal with commuters who are walking Between Washington Street and Ashmont station they tend to be single people or incredibly small groups and more often than not they are adults if they are students there not the large unruly groups that have been such a problem with trash and other issues . I think trash cans would be definitely an important addition but I do think that the best fit for parking issues and other things would be a New York style grocer which would include gourmet type coffee and snacks. I think that because it might have a higher end product rather than a crappy corner store deli with tend to be throwing trash on the ground as much

I won hundred percent agree with the idea of limiting the number of cars per lease. The idea of a TOD Is wonderful and generally people are moving in that direction but it is a slow pace and more often than not to people still have two cars not the dream goal of zero cars walking to everything they need in the neighborhood and then renting a car when I need to go someplace. This is not really a true urban neighborhood that provides for a TOD. is wonderful and generally people are moving in that direction but it is a slow pace and more often than not to people still have two cars not the dream goal of zero cars walking to everything they need in the neighborhood and then renting a car when I need to go someplace. This is not really a true urban neighborhood that provides for a TOD. Ashmont Hill simply is not city letting you have to drive places in order to live and shop and stuff so people realistically have cars . Again as a disabled person with a handicapped residential parking spot across the street which I have had to apply for I am also particularly concerned about having to fight for my spot on a continual basis

Public safety is a big concern in our area, I think lots of lighting at night is important. Connecting the retail space and patio make sense regardless of what type of retail goes in there. If space allows, having a small portion for general seating or gathering space would be nice. Limiting the number of cars per unit via lease agreements to control the influx of cars should also be considered.

I also live directly across the street adjacent to MsLarkin And I agree about the parking concerns. We already have people who leave their cars all the way down here for the day who then take the train I see it out my window every day, currently the cars which are parked on that side of the street today from the crosswalk all the way down to the halfway house are all commuter cars every single one I’ve been paying close attention in the past week . This is more of a winter time thing but this is a huge issue parking is going to be a very big problem .

I live directly opposite on Talbot, and I am most concerned about parking (we may be near public transportation, but 40 units needs more than 23 spaces), sunlight (a 5 story building on the Talbot side will block sunlight to the opposite side of the street), and trash from whatever business goes in. Would love a good coffee shop, but please put some public trash cans on the street if you go the coffee shop / grocery store route.

I agree that there is too much wasted roadway by this site that should be captured and converted into useful space. I think the city should transfer some of that land to the project in exchange for more affordability in the housing units.

I know it's likely been pursued already (and likely been shot down due to the city being difficult), but really push to get the lined-off section of street in front of the building included in this project. If there's anything the public can due to get that piece of street turned into a park, let us know how we can help.

Though the object is to be a TOD people do love their cars, with 23 parking spaces for 40 new units,as an adjunct neighbor I am concerned about parking.Talbot Ave is an emergency snow route, so we must evacuate to side streets which is very difficult even now.I am concerned that a restaurant or gym will bring in-on top of the new residents-an unmanageable amount of people parking for hours at a time.A small gourmet grocery would fill a void and not create this issue.I have a handicapped parking spot which I'm also concerned about. How many handicap spots will be provided for the building, both in and outside? Though I had to go to lengths to get the spot it does not have my name on it so anyone coming to 500 can just park in it and then I will not be able to get into my home. If there does end up being a restaurant with a patio put in,will there be a plan in place with the owners about working with neighbors regarding noise issues at night? As a former restaurateur with a garden in a busy urban residential neighborhood I am extremely familiar with the noise levels and difficulties that situation brings with it. Coffee house/Wine bar is an alternative to full liquor restaurant.Creates local meeting place-breakfast/lunch/brunch/pop-up event options etc.I think that would be a nice thing to add if folks are dead set on a food place. Nowhere to hang in AM in hood now.

A landscaped green space for outdoor seating and community gathering, hosting occassional pop up events etc.Though the idea of a restaurant patio might sound nice the acoustics of Ashmont Hill are such that the noise is exponentially terrible. A lead into the Greenway somehow would be spectacular!

A NYC style grocery with healthy produce and gourmet takeout, coffee & baked goods, dry goods, beer, & wine, and household basics. This would not only serve the residents of the building but the adjacent neighborhood while not creating the parking and noise problems that a restaurant unfortunately inevitably would - or the parking issues a gym would bring.

I think that's the cool part of this project is that the Argyle Street entrance is across from the proposed Dorchester Greenway. Perhaps a plaque or some symbol or sculpture on the greenway pointing towards the building would contribute to not only the site but also to The Greenway

I think that this area has seen many types of small businesses come and go, I would love to see a staple business go in to this space that will revitalize the area in a way that is reflective of the needs of the people who live there. A small specialty grocer, or a cafe.

I live directly across the street from 500 Talbot Ave. which is only two doors down from a corner store but it's also itself directly across the street from another corner store. We already have what is a nonstop flow of commuter foot traffic All day long most of whom are eating and drinking and we have very little trash from them. Very different then the school kid situation on the hill.
