I would create a true community center. This center would be unlike any currently in the Atlanta area and would provide a hub for arts and other civic organizations in the area. Think a large theatre space for performances, smaller performance spaces and rehearsal spaces to act as an incubator for new and innovative projects in all disciplines. In addition, some of the smaller store spaces could be used as affordable space for artists of all disciplines. It would include space for arts education. The most important part would be to make it affordable for smaller groups so that these groups could then access the support that would allow them to grow and increase their capacity to contribute to the economic development of the area, and make Gwinnett County truly an arts destination. In addition, having a variety of spaces that are truly accessible and affordable to bring the entire community together would make celebrating the awesome diversity that we have in Gwinnett County easier. We need to get organizations involved that are leading the way in the areas of equity from audience to leadership, diversity of programming that tells the stories of all that live in our community, and inclusion of everyone in the community by creating a place for each unique voice.

I would add something called a study cafe! I would partner with the library to add one so that students can find a nice, quiet place to study.

I would turn it into an accessible community arts/theatre space. Right now, performance space for small troupes (Community theatres, home schools, etc) is near-nonexistent. The rentals charged at the Hudgens center put that out of the reach of most groups.

I think that Gwinnett County needs a community center where non-profits/youth groups/etc can hold meetings. This location is ideal because it is near transit which enables access for those who wouldn't otherwise be able to attend. I could also see it as a good home for various county services so they would be easily accessible to people without car transportation. I picture a vibrant community center that also includes restaurants / coffee shops / etc. I recognize this isn't the highest $$ value you can get for the property but you have a unique opportunity to fill in this gap in our county's available resources.
