They should be constucted with materials that will not degrade after 10 years. It is important that these items are selected for long-term mindsets to make it a stable asset to the community.

Pride of ownership, sense of stewardship. I don't know. A mix of people, with different income levels and ethnicities, but with a shared sense of belonging to this project. Retail that tries to offer jobs and/or opportunities to the residents there. A resident board of directors that is created to address issues of safety, cleanliness.

I've owned here for about 8, but I came to large art events here 20 - 25 years ago.

For me creating some sort of retail hub would be first. Shop, dine, drink. Wicker Park had the intersection of North/Milwaukee and Damen and things spread from there. Logan Square also has a stretch of Milwaukee, Pilsen has 18th St., Little Village 26th St. West Garfield I would say has Madison Ave., battered as it is, but East Garfield I don't feel has a real center. I'm hoping lake St. also becomes a corridor.

Our neighborhood is in great need for gathering amenities. We have no public library, no grocery store, no dog park, no coffee shops, etc. It is important that public space is created to draw more people and investments to our community.
