Jason, I'd love to get in on that too, and learn more about your music school.

Yes. The plans look great, just make sure the final product looks as nice. If there’s too much compromise or scaling back along the way this could easily turn into an albatross on astoria’s neck instead of the shining jewel it’s meant to be. Don’t cut corners!

Definitely a water feature -- it's calming and cooling in the warm months. Shade trees. perhaps rotating sculpture displays or public art. Outdoor live music. Enclosed play area for kids.

These aren't co-ops or condos.

Just open green space with trees that provide shade where people of all ages can come and just relax.

Absolutely. The area of this proposed development is largely unsightly warehouses and under-performing businesses. There is no open space, it's unattractive to foot traffic, and it's not serving the areas housing needs as well as it could. I hope a project like this will address many of those things and lead to a total revitalization and revolution of lower Steinway and Northern Blvd.

Additional ethnic stores, specialty food shops, gourmet grocers, book stores, bicycle shops that are larger than a closet, live music (jazz, blues, classical), more art spaces.

I think there's a dearth of good, accessible open space in Astoria, other than at it's Western edge. I think thoughtfully designed, curated open space nearer the commercial center of Astoria, would be a huge benefit. The proposed green roofs, and rooftop farms just add to that and are in line with my thoughts on green, sustainable new development.

Absolutely 100%. Unlike some of the other commenters here I see a NEED for this type of development as well as multiple benefits to it.

Absolutely. I think this development is much-needed for South Steinway, which is getting increasingly dilapidated by the day. We need to avoid urban decay and this is a great way to accomplish that. I know there are many people saying "what about small businesses?", but the problem is that nowadays South Steinway is NOT an attractive place for a small business owner to open up shop. What mom-and-pop wants to open up a store when vacancies abound? This development will make South Steinway more attractive for new small businesses, and be a boon to the existing small businesses.

This is a great project. And NYC needs more not less of this kind of thoughtful development.
