Don't miss the opportunity to contribute to the development of the walking and biking trail along the CSX rail line. Your property at broadway and binney is notable for not taking advantage of the opportunity to do so, and this could be a great way to mitigate the impact of many new people you'll be bringing to Kendall for work, while providing alternatives to additional cars moving through Kendall.

Work with MIT to tie in the use to Volpe's planned public and civic spaces. Examples could include (1) a programmable space for music public events and markets (2) Additional open green space, landscaped to provide refuge from the increased activity of Kendall (3) A tot lot to serve the needs of future families living in Central Square (4) a community garden

While 1500sf is not large enough for a supermarket or CVS, I do agree with below posts about having a smaller grocery store. The neighborhood is in a dire need of one and it would compliment other retailers at the plaza next door and cinema.

I totally agree. I am living at the Berkshire Place and I am working on Kendall Square, so if I could have access to healthy, fresh food and bread (yummy! Sorry, it is a bit cliché, I am French!) when coming home, it would be really great!

I agree with this retail comment. I live on Cardinal Medeiros. Instead of seeing another restaurant pop up, it would be great to see a shop with fresh fruits/vegetables, and a good selection of dairy and grocery items. Also fresh breads/baked goods and prepared foods...something in line with a Broadway Market that is not overly priced. The closest we have within walking distance is the Propsect St. Whole Foods. The 7/11 of whatever it is on the corner of Main just doesn't cut it. I would also like to see it have convenient hours, opening early, closing late. I think this type of retail would really compliment what's already happening in this area.

I live on Lilac Court. I would love to see a fruit and vegetable store, maybe with fresh flowers, too. I imagined it run by Siena Farms (Ana Sortun of Oleana restaurant's husband). People could come by and get produce on their way to their car or get flowers for a date. Gives a nice vibe to have fresh things, and it takes cars off the road when people can just walk and pick something up. Plus those of us who live around here can't easily leave at rush hour to pick something up for dinner because the traffic leaving this neighborhood is nuts. (Additionally...I think these count as restaurants not retail, but: A bakery would also do well -- I've often thought that running an early morning movie with baked goods would be great, so people could beat the commute, see a film and THEN go to work.) Bonus if it added baking bread smell to the area and made everyone feel happy. And ice cream would also work.)

Thanks for creating the site, allowing interested parties to follow progress and get questions answered. It appears you will include approximately 1500 SF of retail on the site, and I am wondering whether you have made any effort to determine what retail needs are most likely to be successful in meeting the site and areas needs. Can you offer any thoughts on this?
