This would be such a huge asset to the neighborhood around Sunnyside Park where I live. There is no easy way to get downtown on a bicycle - you have to cross Main street and it's always daunting even though there are some well-marked pedestrian crossings. Extending the riverside trail would make so much sense for safety and enjoyment!

I agree that convenient parking is helpful, and would like to point out that there are several large parking garages in the vicinity.

I think more lighting will help the area be utilized for access to the nightlife in Lewiston/Auburn and could help promote walking within these areas. Light pollution is one concern for both humans and animals, but not sure if both of those needs could be addressed at the same time.

I love the idea of lighting down the canals! I think of providence rhode island's WaterFire event. Along the canal bridges too.

There needs to be a multi-use covered pavilion with bathrooms for the farmers market and other events. Also provide wide pedestrian and multi-use trails, food vendors. Fencing along canals can be reduced substantially. Canals should be showcased more.

I love this new location for the Farmer's Market! It feels much more connected to the downtown, and it's so much nicer being away from the traffic of main street. I hope that it becomes the permanent home for the market. Already the market has made measurable improvements to the site, but I could see it growing and beautifying the space even more.

I'd like to see it used for recreation, relaxation and beauty. Some ideas: a linear park for sitting or wading; ice skating in the winter; some kind of boating during other seasons.

I am also EXTREMELY interested in a rock climbing gym in the mills - I had the same thought, Jason!

Not sure if it would be possible but as a potential entry/chute into the rover for canoes & kayaks and SUPs with art work/murals surrounding. Also, highly interested in Lewiston’s own rock climbing gym in a renovated mill building!

While increased lighting will make the area more accessible, especially in winter, we need to be careful not to create more light pollution. I like the ideas of fountains, murals and sculptures.

Informal restaurants and/or cafes. Having Museum L/A down by the river would also be great.

This would be amazing - I love the pedestrian trail by Sunnyside park and a longer path would be a huge asset and allow for so much more access to downtown via bike, walking, roller blading, running, etc...

Extend the riverside bicycle and pedestrian trail south from Sunnyside Park so it connects with Simard-Payne Park as well as the riverwalk in Auburn.

Yes! Or restaurants with outdoor eating along tree-lined canals, instead of empty parking lots.

More running paths, retail, restaurants, and RESTROOMS! When I’m running I need downtown restrooms that are accessible.

Public restrooms would be amazing, extended and maintained walking paths, coffee shop or place to get snacks and then sit outside and enjoy the water, more wildflowers/flower beds/wild area for pollinators...

An enclosed Handicapped accessible rest room(s), near to the Veterans Park thus allowing older folks to feel a little more comfortable when coming to events here.
