Perhaps the development can be named after Fred Hampton.

They should be constucted with materials that will not degrade after 10 years. It is important that these items are selected for long-term mindsets to make it a stable asset to the community.

When will public forums be held? I signed up for one earlier this summer but it was canceled.

Well lit. Enough parking for residents. Include green space and a garden, open places for children to play and folks to gather, a safe and open space for teens

Too boxy and modern. How can this development be in conversation with the grand architecture of Marshall HS right across from it? Appreciate the mixed use space and the open plaza--needs more greenery, maybe a garden?

Offer business training courses and certifications; create business incubators (L1 business accelerator through Arts & Public Life is a good model); bring in speakers and uplift local examples of neighborhood folks being entrepreneurs

Love the old grey stones, the porches/stoops, and the square at 5th and Jackson as a community gathering space

Create connections with the historical Fifth City Human Development Project that worked to revitalize the neighborhood in the 60s-80s. Tell the stories of radical community development that are part of the history of this area from Fifth City to Madison Ave's heyday as a commercial corridor to the still existing Fifth City preschool (one of the longest federally funded pre-K's in the nation--the model was studied by a number of organizations).

For me creating some sort of retail hub would be first. Shop, dine, drink. Wicker Park had the intersection of North/Milwaukee and Damen and things spread from there. Logan Square also has a stretch of Milwaukee, Pilsen has 18th St., Little Village 26th St. West Garfield I would say has Madison Ave., battered as it is, but East Garfield I don't feel has a real center. I'm hoping lake St. also becomes a corridor.

Our neighborhood is in great need for gathering amenities. We have no public library, no grocery store, no dog park, no coffee shops, etc. It is important that public space is created to draw more people and investments to our community.

Education and job/skills training partnership with Marshall HS; hand on educational opportunities with Faraday and Erikson Elementary Schools and Fifth City preschool; partnership with Garfield Park Community Council and their affordable housing initiative--somehow leveraging the Garfield Green development to help spur the GPCC's plan and priorities. Opportunities for residents to take classes and participate in programs. Reenergize the commercial square that was at Homan, 5th Ave, and Jackson with local Black-run businesses.

The coffee shop from Garfield park conservatory should get their own coffee shop.
