The BP site is a very prominent entrance to the Old Town neighborhood. Since it adjoins the Moody Church, any redevelopment should be architecturally distinguished. It should be compatible with current zoning and preserve the scale and height levels prevalent in our neighborhood. The design should incorporate the magnificent current roof line. A versatile space perhaps modeled after the Rothko Chapel could be used as a place for mediation, prayer, concerts and ceremonies, smaller scale gatherings, special art exhibits, and memorials and other honors and recognitions such as the awarding of the Pritzker Prize. It can greatly benefit our neighborhood.

Bikers meet at this gas station and then loudly race around the area during the summer. It is a nuisance to residents.

A high rise is indeed being considered. We will need to be vocal as they aren't even acknowledging this is being considered or that most people have said they don't want a high rise.

Jacob, I believe your comment is well-intentioned, but I disagree with the notion that a mid rise here would promote accessible housing in the area. Current units in the area, not new construction, are going for $2000+ for a 1 bed or a studio. This new construction would surely be even more, particularly given the prime location near the lake and downtown. I am staunchly opposed to any residential construction as a part of this project.

it is an underutilized spot. Chicago lacks amenities (restaurants) near parks/open space. I would love for this development to bring outdoor spaces and dining closer together.

Hi Bonnie, a high rise on the west corner of North and LaSalle would utterly destroy the property value and quality of life for anyone in 1660 N LaSalle who has a unit facing south, by blocking their views of the downtown skyline. Do you know anything more about plans for a high rise? I can't believe our Alderman and community would ever stand for it, but money talks...

a small shopping area with small park with seating area. Mid or low rise building. NO high rise. Park might be similar to the triangle park at 1000 N State.

Anything other than another high rise. This area is already so congested traffic-wise, and the high rise would block existing residents' views, some of whom have lived in the area for decades. I would like to see locally owned businesses or restaurants have the opportunity to occupy the space. A sandwich or coffee shop would be nice - pedestrians can grab food on the way to the lake front or park.
