Bethesda has a strong local artist culture. Maybe we can create a glass garden like the Chihuly one nestled in Seattle Center, and do it in collaboration with Glen Echo Glass Center artists. The glass changes as the light of day changes, and reflects the Space Needle and Seattle skyline, but is in an intimate garden providing respite to tourists and locas. Or solar powered metal sculptures that play bells like in Seattle. People will enjoy some color, light, and soothing sounds in the center of the high rises and traffic. That plus water spray would be pleasing to children and adults alike.

Small cafe, green space, comfortable seating, pace for musicians to busk, ice skating in winter, water play in summer, a place for children to play.

A cool atypical playground like you might find in NYC or Europe - Tuileries, next to Notre Dame, next to Buckingham Palace. Water play fountains in the summer and popup ice skating rink like at Rockville Plaza. Lots of little tables and benches and cafes so it is a sit down area. With trees and flowers!
