GCRTA has a community shelter investment program that enables community partners to invest in upgraded shelters and other aspects of transit waiting environments such as real-time bus arrival information signs.

I would like to see the project provide maximum support to the walking and waiting environment on Detroit Avenue by preserving historic character, placing multiple uses, windows, and doors on the street, and offering opportunities for play and rest

The development proposal does not match the existing buildings for respect for the pedestrian, providing the sense of a street "room," or providing aspects of placemaking. It takes a three story historic building with lots of architectural detail and substitutes a one story frontage on the street. It would be better to place the residences over the library. I do like the overhang that provides shade and rain cover but worry about the dry plants in the shade underneath. I do not see a transit shelter in the rendering. An overhang set back from the street does not replace the amenities provided by a three sided shelter placed where the bus can be seen approaching.

Definitely ensuring that accessibility needs are met and that there is actually feedback from multiple seniors and people who face accessibility challenges, a robust partnership with the library, and access to healthy food that people can walk to (our neighborhood NEEDS a real grocery store that residents can walk to - especially one that doesn't carry mostly processed foods - Save-a-lot does not count)

What do you mean by "accessible units"? Will these only be available to low income seniors? Is it the width of the doorways for wheelchair access? Are the countertops lowered? Are there grab bars in the bathrooms? Are there elevators to the common spaces (laundry rooms, roof green space, gym)? How many disabled people sit on the board making these design decisions? Is there braille in the public areas?

I am actively looking for a senior apt. but might wait for this to be built. Having an apt. on a major frequent safe bus line is important. There is currently no supermarket to walk to at this location unfortunately. The drug store is a bit far to walk to with ice and snow on the sidewalk.

Improved safety and better access to produce/healthy foods.
Improved safety and better access to produce/healthy foods.
A continued orientation away from cars and toward transit, biking, and walking as demonstrated by the design, safety, and use allocation of the streets.
