Yes. Astoria is not as appealing as it once was. Revitalization is necessary to bring back the appeal. The residents of Astoria spend a lot of money to live here and the appeal is no longer here. Along with these efforts to revitalize, something has to be done with the garbage all over the streets and sidewalks. Garbage receptacles at the street corners are continuously overflowing with garbage. Streets are full of garbage. I have not seen the sanitation dept. Clean the streets in months. Astoria looks like a dump.. Graffiti all over the mail boxes and buildings. When are these issues going to be addressed. I along with other residents of Astoria are sick and tired of living in such conditions.what will be done about all of the store closings on Steinway? All of these vacant buildings will attract undesirables to the neighborhood. It has already started. I feel that all of these issues that I brought up should first be taken care of before starting this so call revitalization project.
