I also like the raised crossings at many of the cross streets. These crossings are well marked and level with the path, forcing drivers on the cross streets to slow down to go over the raised crosswalk. The signage is also very clear that there are pedestrians and bicyclists crossing there.

I live on Waldeck Street and the proposed DotGreenway would be directly behind my home. I think this would be an incredible asset to the community, and welcome the opportunity to turn the neglected and inaccessible tunnel-cap into a more vibrant public space.

Adding a number of prominent emergency call-boxes would increase the perception of safety and increase the likelihood of help. There are points along the proposed walk/bike way that are not easily accessible if someone becomes ill or is under attack, especially at night.

If they have it in Somerville we deserve it in Dorchester.

When planning please keep in mind maintenance. If the greenway is successful, it needs to be maintained properly in perpetuity

I'm not Charles but I can say a few specific things I like about the Somerville Community Path:
- well-lit, clean, and safe
- well-maintained surface so it's easy to ride a bike or push a stroller
- works well as both a way to commute (e.g. connects residential neighborhoods to the Davis Sq T) and as a strolling destination
Have the organizers of this effort connected with the Friends of the Community Path organization in Somerville/Cambridge? I think it would be well worth sharing knowledge. https://www.facebook.com/pg/FriendsoftheCommunityPath/about/

Let's talk about funding. In addition to securing grants and any government money that's available, developers should contribute funding as part of a community contribution.

A safe, convenient, and beautiful way to walk or bike through the neighborhood, particularly to and from T stations, much like the Community Path in Somerville and Cambridge.

Having previously lived in Cambridge, I experienced a path from Alewife through Arlington to Lexington and it is beautiful! This proposal suggests public gardens, and i know from past experience the gardens will magically appear as abutters will step up to the plate as it will be their back yards people will pass by. The path in Camb., etc. is used constantly by many, many folks, even for short walks and you can't beat the scenery. And no cars. It's safe as there are so many houses along the route, day or night plus it's a good shortcut from station to station. As for public art, which I completely support, appropriately sized art would also be a plus. And the art would be in a place where there is a lot of "foot traffic". It is a winning proposal. I support this concept in a big way!

Perhaps a small cafe or shop will be included as part of the Fitzpatrick Brothers property development! I believe there is a community discussion coming up next week (Thursday, October 12 at 6:30 p.m.in the library of the Epiphany School) to solicit input on that property development; this would be a great suggestion to raise there.

The path from Melville Ave to Centre street is wonderful. The only thing that seems missing is around Shawmut station. The promenade from the station toward Melville is perfect with it's signs about local foliage. However, the promenade toward Centre street from the station looks like a beautiful walk in a cute neighborhood leading to nowhere. It would would be great if there were a small cafe (like Homestead) and/or a cheese shop (like American Provisions) and/or bakery (like Flour) along that promenade.

The DotGreenway will be best used as a recreational walking / bike path!
Totally Agree! Especially on some of the busier streets (like Centre). Let's make these real neighborhood streets, not speedy cut throughs!
